Messenger Service

Pastel Journal Magazine has awarded 4th Place to Karen Israel's Messenger Service in their 22nd Annual Pastel 100 Competition Issue.  When it came to crafting her composition, this Connecticut artist turned to a non-avian aspect of nature for inspiration.  "The grouping of birds reminded me of pedals on a flower," she says. "I was inspired by the similar, subtle variety of each bird and the way their connection created a feeling of one solid unit."

Karen was also recently been accepted as an Associate Member with the Copley Society of Art in Boston, and her selected works will periodically be exhibited here.  This gallery hosts between 15 and 20 exhibitions each year, including solo  exhibitions, thematic group shows, juried competitions, and fundraising events.  The Copley Society of Art is the oldest non-profit art association in the United States, with a history dating back to 1879.

Count It All Joy

Count It All Joy is currently on exhibit on Granville Island, British Columbia, CANADA as part of the annual ABSTRACTED Exhibition at the Federation Gallery, from FEB 22nd thru MAR 7th.  This painting will be available again thru FranklinWestwood.com, if not sold, at the conclusion of the exhibition.  Inspired by JOY, each color sings a tune; gratitude, abundance, peacefulness, laughter, love, contentment, excitement, anticipation and awe. Together they take me to a place that expresses joy that can’t be expressed with mere words alone. This is how my heart feels.

White Horses
The Palm Beach Show is one of the most influential and biggest arts events in the US, and recently completed it's exhibition of exciting collections of art, antiques, jewelry, and design. Visitors to the show at the Palm Beach Convention Center were be able to visit Contemporary Focus, a special section dedicated to artistic movements, styles, and works of modern and contemporary art.  Among the exhibited work included White Horses, by Florida based abstract artist Jane Lawton Baldridge.

Signs of Spring
Laurinda O'Connor was recently featured in a profile article, written by Amy Leibrock, in Pastel Journal Magazine, titled Strokes of Discovery.  Amy writes "Viewing one of Laurinda's paintings is not a passive experience.  Lines and marks move in opposite directions, and you can bounce between the artist's every stroke and the scene as a whole in the endless loop without noticing the same detail twice."   Her painting Signs of Spring is featured in the article and is available for purchase here on FranklinWestwood.com
